DEALING CONSTRUCTIVELY WITH THE CONFLICTS THAT COME AT US IN MINISTRY
Words that can make a minister’s heart sink. The mind starts to race. What could possibly be the problem? Have I done something wrong? Who is upset? How can it be fixed?
The anxiety can be paralysing.
Working with church conflict in a parish can be a lonely job for the leader. My aim is to encourage and empower clergy so that they feel resourced and above all not alone in the ministry of reconciliation, which is so key to the heart of our calling.
While most of us will never relish conflict, we can become confident in our ability to deal with it, and to know when we should walk away.
CONTENT OF THE TRAINING
This training will help church leaders to engage with the messy reality of church conflict and our own responses to it. Participants will be asked to use current or past conflicts that they have been involved with and will also be given the opportunity to spend time thinking about their current situation in some depth.
